Will Bolton HeadshotMr Bolton is an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery at the Leeds Centre for Neurosciences, UK, where he undertakes his neurosurgical training alongside building a programme of neurosurgical technologies research. He is an applied health and translational researcher with expertise in developing and evaluating medical technologies for accelerating surgical care, including researching digital smart theatres and technology-enhanced recovery after surgery. His technology experience spans immersive technologies, robotics, imaging, and artificial intelligence. He undertook his PhD in Global Surgical Innovation and Technologies where his research investigated the use of frugal innovation methodologies to develop and evaluate surgical technologies for low-resource settings. This research resulted in the IDEAL Global Framework and led to the launch of IDEAL Global, an initiative from the IDEAL Collaboration that aims to improve the development and evaluation of surgical innovation in low-resource areas. Mr Bolton runs projects in several countries around the world with a focus on surgical training, frugal innovation and surgical public health.
