A comprehensive literature survey to examine the extent to which surgical studies adhered to the IDEAL framework.

Research waste project is a comprehensive literature survey to examine the extent to which surgical studies adhered to the IDEAL framework to ensure appropriate, safe and efficient translation of new treatments into surgical practice.

This project will assess the avoidable research waste relating to the design, conduct and reporting of studies evaluating innovation, effectiveness, efficacy or harms of surgical operations or therapeutic devices. The protocol of this study has been published in the BMJ Surgery, Interventions, & Health Technologies. The overall outcomes will be released in the middle of this year.
